Northern High School Boys Soccer Alumni The
Northern Boys Soccer Alumni are committed to the success of the program
even after they have graduated from high school. Alumni members turn
up annually for a pre-season match with the Varsity team. They can also
be found in the stands, both home and away, throughout the season.
This support is important to the success of the program. The alumni are
dedicated to preserving the tradition of Northern High School Boys
Soccer in the past, present, and future. The
1st annual alumni match was held in 1999. Alumni members Ryan
Harbaugh, Mike Chase, and John Erly took on the task of locating fellow
players from past teams. This search produced contact information for
more than 100 former members of the soccer team at Northern. An alumni
team of more than 40 players was formed to take on the varsity sqaud in
the 1999 match. After a hard fought 90 minutes, the score was level at
1-1. The event also raised almost $1000 for the program. The success
of the first match has made the game an annual event. In 2003, the
number of alumni participating had grown to the point that the match
involves two teams of alumni playing against each other. This
match has become the traditional opening to the soccer season at
Northern High School and in Calvert County. Players from the past and
the present look forward to an evening to celebrate the traditions of
Northern High Boys Soccer. The 2019 Alumni Match will be held on Friday, August 16th at 7:00 pm at the NHS Stadium. See below for information and a registration form. |
