John Rossi
Varsity Boys Head Coach
Coach Rossi has been involved with the Northern Boys Soccer Program since 2003. Coach Rossi spent three years as an assistant coach, and in 2005 he assumed the role of Junior Varsity head coach. After a successful year with the Junior Varsity squad, and the departure of then-coach Jamie Webster, he took over as the head coach of the Varsity squad. During his time at Northern, Coach Rossi has worked with both the varsity and junior varsity players and has joined the staff of Patriot Soccer Camps.
In 2006, his debut year as head coach for Northern, Coach Rossi led the varsity squad to an impressive season. The team began with a shaky 2-2 start, but after beating Patuxent to win the Patriot Classic, the season was turned around. The team placed second in the County Cup competition, and ended up placing second in SMAC with a SMAC record of 7-3-1, earning Coach Rossi the recognition of SMAC Coach of the Year and Calvert Recoder Coach of the Year. The team also went deep into the playoffs, outscoring opponents 10-2 in the regional tournament. The tournament climaxed when the team beat Chopticon to win the 3A South Regional championship, the second ever in Northern High Boys Soccer history. Coach Rossi then led the team into the state playoffs, where the team lost a heartbreaker 3-4 to North Carroll. The team finished up the season with a 12-5-1 record, completing one of the best seasons the Northern Boys program has ever seen.
Howie McGowan
Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach McGowan has been involved with coaching youth soccer in the area for many years. Upon joining the staff at Northern in 1998, he fielded competitive Junior Varsity squads. His teams consistently perform well on the field. More importantly, Coach McGowan prepares his players to be competitive on the Varsity level. During the 2005 season, he assumed the role of varsity assistant coach. Coach McGowan has also worked with Patriot Soccer Camps for several years. During his college years, he was an instrumental part of the Mens Soccer team at West Virginia Wesleyan.
Ben Barley
Junior Varsity Head Coach
Coach Barley joined the Northern Boys Soccer Program in 2006 after the departure of Coach Webseter to St. Mary's. He became the Junior Varsity head coach and has fielded extremly competitive teams, preparing his players to compete on the varsity level. Coach Barley also spends time working with the goalkeepers.
Jaime Webster

Former Varsity Boys Head Coach
Coach Webster has been involved with youth soccer in Calvert County and the state of Maryland for many years. Currently, Coach Webster is an assistant coach for the St. Mary's College Men's Soccer Team. Previously, he held the position of Varsity Boys Head Coach at Northern High School. Before working with Northern's squads, he coached in both the Boys and Girls Varsity programs at Patuxent High School.
During the first three years of his time at Northern High School, Coach Webster has brought great success to the Boys Soccer program. In his intial campaign in 2000, the team improved its record significantly and made it to the regional semifinals before bowing out to the eventual champion, La Plata. In 2001, Coach Webster and the team produced the finest season in the history of Northern High School Boys Soccer. The team finished with a school record 13 wins. In addition, the squad won the 3A South Regional. This regional championship was the first in the history of Northern High Boys Soccer. It was also the first region title earned by a Calvert County team since 1986. At the conclusion of the season, Coach Webster was selected as the Washington Post Southern Maryland Extra Coach of the Year. The 2002 squad had continued success. Despite losing more than half of the previous year's varsity squad, the 2002 team compiled a 10-5 overall record. The team also finished 8-2 and tied for second in SMAC. The 2002 squad also returned the County Cup championship to Northern after a two year absence. The 2003 team had another successful season finishing again in the top four in the conference. In 2004, the Northern Boys Soccer program took another huge leap in Calvert County soccer history. After successfully recapturing the County Cup title, the team finished 9-2 in SMAC and claimed the SMAC championship. This was the first SMAC title in Calvert County boys soccer history. Boys soccer began in the county in the mid-70's. The team eventually made it to the region final in the playoffs before finally falling, finishing with a record of 13-3-1. At the end of the 2004 season, Coach Webster was named SMAC Coach of the Year, Washington Post Southern Maryland Extra Coach of the Year, and Calvert Recorder Coach of the Year.
Coach Webster has also been involved in club soccer in Calvert County. One of the original founders of the Northern Calvert Patriots SC, he has coached several age group teams in the most competitive leagues and competitions in the area. He has also worked as a staff coach with the Maryland State District Development Program since its inception in 1997. Coach Webster has conducted many camps and clinics throughout the area. He has directed and worked with Patriot Soccer Camps (formerly known as Calvert County Soccer Camps) since 1997. During his time as Director, Patriot Soccer Camp has grown to become the largest one week summer camp in Calvert County. In 2002, they had approximately 200 campers attend a week-long soccer academy. Coach Webster has also worked as a staff coach with the Naval Academy Soccer Camp, the St. Mary's College Soccer Camp, and the Darryl Gee Soccer Academy at camps throughout Maryland and Virginia. Coach Webster holds a National Coaching License from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
